Bees, hornets, and wasps are all intriguing flying predators that feel no need to ask for our permission before building their nests on the walls and ceilings of our buildings. While such an instance would usually result in us calling in an exterminator, we might hesitate before calling the professionals for this one. At this person's barn, a nest was built that enveloped the flood lights on the back of the structure. The results are too perfect to be an accident.
This tiny insect's house has turned this innocent home into a shrine to some unknown deity. The creepy appearance discourages its removal and gives us the sudden urge to pray.
The Only Explanation: This Owl Is Possessed
Owls are fascinating creatures and have been featured in everything from mythology to your local zoo. These gorgeous creatures are often known for their massive wingspan and their ability to turn their heads 180 degrees. However, less known is the owl, whose eyes shine a deep, dark red color. The only logical assumption after seeing this photo of this red-eyed owl is that it is a servant of darker forces.
Sadly, the truth is much less creepy. It is just a Stygian owl, a specific owl type whose yellow eyes shine a bright red in the sunlight.
We Were on an Innocent Hike When We Saw This

Dead Man's Fingers, known by scientists as Xylaria polymorpha, is a fungus that grows from dying wood and literally looks like a hand is growing right out of the ground. Attics are notoriously creepy places that are filled with lost memories and previous generations' accomplishments. Occasionally it is smart to go up there to ensure that no animals or supernatural presences have moved in. The only reasonable response to this would be to burn the entire house down and start over.

Water is one the most important compound in our lives. Without water, we would all cease to exist, and that will never stop amazing us. Everyone knows that parents, especially mothers, have eyes in the back of their heads. It is the only way to explain their sixth sense when we are getting into trouble. However, this phrase is usually meant figuratively rather than literally. It is not a terrifying creature but rather a fallen tree that just took an unsettling shape. However, a solo adventurer might fear for their life if they run across it.

One common feature of human instinct is that we never look up to the ceiling or sky. This flaw in our natural instincts is often played on in action and horror movies. Within the food industry, there is a certain level of effort that goes into displaying foods. People simply won't buy your products if they don't look appealing. The Paris Catacombs is a scary place. Portions are open to the public throughout the day, and many people take a visit to see the underground tunnels. However, there are those still who wish to visit at night and even go into the closed-off areas. While illegal, it still occurs. But no matter the circumstances of someone's visit, we feel bad for the poor sap who came across this horrifying image of a man literally coming out of the walls.
This is actually a sculpture called the "passer-through walls," but that doesn't stop this from being utterly horrifying. This alone should discourage those thinking of visiting the catacombs without a tour guide.
This Girl Feeds Her Pet Leech With Her Own Blood
Leeches are slug-like creatures that consume blood. A vast majority of these creatures are rather harmless and will not cause any lasting harm, and you might not even notice a small leech attaching itself to your limbs for a light meal. While they might be harmless, that does not make them suitable pets. But this woman seems to think differently. She is allowing her pet leech, "Princess," to feed off her.
The woman is literally posting images of this leech attaching itself to her arm and drinking her blood. She even dressed up the leech with a bow!

Many people in the world are religious or at least somewhat identify with one of the many religious groups in the world. Is the woman a cannibal who likes making clothes out of her victims' skins? We aren't sure, but we kind of wish we could unsee this image.
Is this woman likely a serial cannibal? Probably not. However, someone needs to find this woman immediately. It could be a police officer or even the fashion police; we don't care.
Local Ghost Child Loves Hovering in the Intersection
There is nothing as terrifying as children. Specifically, we are talking about ghost children. Something about them is disarming and nerve-wracking at the same time. Therefore, the image of a small-statured human hovering in the middle of an intersection at night sends shivers down our spines. Perhaps the ghost child is harmless and passed away at that intersection, or perhaps it's not harmless at all and is actually waiting for its next victim.
While most people would run n in the opposite direction, we can't help but become intrigued by the little, hovering ghost. Why is he still here?

The Scary Giant in the Sky
Everyone has spent time looking up into the sky, spotting the different shapes that the clouds make. Oftentimes you might be able to find the shape of an animal or an inanimate object in the clouds. In this photo, someone captured a cloud formed in the shape of a man looking upon the city. The figure is so distinctive it feels less like a random cloud and more like a sentient being.
Is the cloud the manifestation of some eldritch creature or a god from some pantheon? All we know is it feels like we're in the middle of a fantasy movie.

This creature is beyond the human imagination. First off, spiders are horrifying creatures by themselves. So whoever decided to merge a spider with a baby head is not well.

Barbies were and continue to be an extremely popular toy for those children interested in playing with dolls. While the toys have come under scrutiny for setting standards for women that are unhealthy, they remain a must for many households. Regardless, any parent or adult can attest to the certain creepiness of the doll's dead eyes. Unfortunately, someone decided to remove over a dozen Barbie doll heads and turn them into a car ornament.
The totem of heads is an extremely creepy image and makes one wonder what would lead someone to do this. As well, why would that person attach it to their car?

Many computer owners can attest to their keyboard occasionally needing a good cleaning between the food crumbs and other miscellaneous particles that end up in between their computer's keys. However, some people seem to be dirtier than others in that department. Fortunately, no one we know is quite as bad as this person. We cannot even imagine having to be on the same continent as this computer. We feel really bad for the tech support personnel that had to handle this computer.
Penguins Are Cute Until They Want a Bite
Penguins are just adorable, fuzzy creatures. If you ever get to see their waddle as they walk then, you will instantly fall in love with these exotic creatures. That is until they try to get a bite out of you. A nature photographer was able to get a penguin to try and take a bite out of his camera, and the resulting image of the animal launching itself in for a bite is horrifying.
Turns out that penguins require that many teeth for grabbing onto and holding their slippery prey, fish, and krill. However, that still doesn't make the image less startling to us.

While we have only had them for less than two decades, they have resulted in some amazing and horrifying instances. If that combination wasn't horrifying enough, then the creature's smile is certified to send chills down your spine.
It is unclear why this image is so horrifying. While it's usually the unknown that disturbs us, this creature is completely out in the open, and that seems to make it worse.

We understand that the Skittles company was going for memorable and unique with this marketing decision, but it just comes off as some odd body horror that feels horribly wrong.

Children can be creepy and sometimes downright frightening. Between their imaginary friends and the looming threat of blacked-eyed children everywhere, these are not a threat to be taken lightly. Now, less often, children can be quite adorable and innocent. However, no one is going to believe that when people are having children pose in creepy photos like this one. Just like our instincts don't motivate human beings to look up, they also do not encourage us to look in our toilet bowls before sitting down. Dental care is extremely important and is often a chore for us to stay up to date on. We all know that no one likes going to the dentist, but that doesn't make it less significant. It's safe to say this phantom-like statue in Italy certainly is. The figure isn't the only of its kind at Vezio’s Castle in northern Italy. Its empty shell provokes feelings of loneliness and terror. The statue looks like a haunted spirit searching for meaning in this idyllic countryside. Yet, with the peaceful and beautiful backdrop, the image has a certain air of calm restfulness that contradicts the statue's terrifying silhouette.
During the day, this is a sight worth seeing. However, at night, when you don’t know what to expect going up these stairs, we'll give this site a hard pass.
The Black Crack in Utah
If you suffer from vertigo, you probably won’t dare to approach this 65-foot-deep fissure in Utah like these brave hikers are doing. Nevertheless, there's something uniquely terrifying about this black scar marking the earth’s surface. Found along a trail in the Canyonlands National Park, those that fall would surely never come out again. Needless to say, it’s all too easy to allow ourselves to imagine that a blackness like this leads somewhere else entirely.
The world splitting in half like that is a vision from a dystopian tale, made all too realistic by this example. It’s terrifying to think this crevasse isn't the only one. Moral of the story: when you're out there in the wilderness, be careful where you step!
